My Areas of Expertise
I am a content and development editor of books (fiction and nonfiction); a copyeditor of academic journals in science, technical, medical, and social science subjects; the author of seven nonfiction books for young adults; and a freelance writer for magazines and newspapers.

Personal
Associations
Published member of the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators
What are you passionate about?
I am very committed to children's literacy programs! I love kids, I love great books, and I love new writing and editing projects of any kind.
What makes you a valuable networking contact?
I have worked for and with several nationwide publishing companies (including Sage Publications, Cengage Learning, Linworth Publishing, and Gannett). I am also an active member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and personally know several very successful children's authors.
How did you become involved in your current position? If you’re an entrepreneur, what inspired you to start your own company?
I became a freelance writer mostly so I could be at home full time while my two children were young. I started out with local newspapers and magazines and have since been growing my expertise and broadening my client list. I work as an independent contractor and enjoy the freedom, flexibility, and challenge of finding new projects and clients on a national scale.
Offering (Products, services, expertise, etc. you or your company can offer others)
I can perform virtually any writing, editing, or formatting task someone may need. I am proficient in AP, APA, Chicago, MLA, AMA, and CSE editorial styles and can write or edit in any of them. A freelance writer or editor can be a tremendous help for a company in a down economy, providing high-quality, professional services on a per-project basis. This can be much more cost-effective and flexible than employing a staff member full- or part-time.
Seeking (Products, services, expertise, etc. you or your company are looking for)
I am always seeking work in writing, editing, proofreading, formatting, desktop publishing, and book or journal production. I am open to any opportunity.
