Debbie I just seen your homepage, it is positively beautiful. I would say in addition to your knack for poetry [or at least word play] your knack for art is quite sophisticated. I'm very excited by the idea that you wish to speak any further.…

How did you become involved in your current position? If you’re an entrepreneur, what inspired you to start your own company?
for my current position, writing has always been an interest. For so long as I can remember I've been writing short stories more than not I would write to them and give them away. The funniest part being my first major book entitled red twilight I had not intended to be a novel I thought I was writing a script for a game with intention of then of course giving it away as I've said before, I should it with a number of my friends and got very poor reviews, my friends are gamers they saw what I was trying to say but it was just too big and the opinion to be a single game ad inspired me instead to take my first act make that into a novel and try to publish an act a year as sequels. Unfortunately I am behind schedule at this time. I

hi dustin,

thanks for the great message!

yes - i know what you mean about PR advertising results not matching up with the costs. Really have to be careful, and specific, i think.

this is my first book, going on Amazon, so i am not sure about all the do's and dont's of getting good exposure like some of the pro's here.

i do see everything going to utube / video. the convential PR is just old, even from a short tme ago! networking like this with cambridge, good SEO, a good video of you, and radio or internet interview, these are my focus, along with a good press release.

so you are the next steven king? i have a liking to the stargate, battle star galllicata, shows for fun.

teens are my passion as well. i am director of our parish confirmation program, and just had 67 terrific teens confirmed a few weeks ago. they are our future - and god know they need the help, and so do we, in this upside down world.

i would love to speak with you more on all fronts..

blessings your way,
deb

As for people taking your book or name with them you do want something to hand out if they can"t buy the book now like a book marker with the web address title and pic of the book, even a blog page or e mail to contact you be personal until time will not allow it. Shirts are great but they really only go to those who purchase so starting out its getting you and the name out there first then when the following happens add the rest.

Advertising in any form is all about numbers, the game is known as SINALOA, Safety In Numbers And Law Of Averages. Rule of thumb is pick three ways you can advertise( financially, time, ability) and keep them going for 90 days this will get the ball rolling then do another 90 days of what is working but still three methods. example: fliers on bulletin boards 25 a week, ad in paper/ announcement local every week, library readings/ signings every week at least 1.
what works in each industry is different but the Laws still apply. Hope this helps, as for a publisher its the same you just need to talk until some one says yes. You must believe in your product before any one else will then its numbers. You can't say the right thing to the wrong person or the wrong thing to the right person so plug away.
Failure only comes when we have given up.

It's always hard to get started without a lot of start-up capital. You have to be creative and patient. They say it takes 3-5 years. I'm still facing some of the same financial issues. We have a lot of interest in our business, but we are still struggling with making our services affordable in the midst of a financial crises and still making enough to keep things going.
Good Luck,
Donna
