Kathleen Murphy said… - Hi Christina: It is an interesting question - how I got where I am right now. To a large degree, things turned out differently than I originally thought, but it has been great.
In general, I would say to be open to what comes up while pursuing your dreams. For instance, I started out as an accountant, and did not really like that job. So, I asked around, answered ads in the papers, and ultimately got a job in real estate. I have been in this field for 24 years. I just took advantage of the educational opportunities that came up and have done well. I believe that a lot of my success has come thru networking - by being there for the people in my network just like I counted on them to be there for me. I have also learned a lot by just asking people for feedback.
Now I am pursuing a coaching career and I am using the same process.
The most important thing is to just enjoy the ride.
