Since noone has replied, I iwill share what I have learned. The amount of walking required varies with each individual and with their condition as well just as the amount of food intake. There is no blanket presciption that one size fits all. Having been unable to lift my own legs into a bed and begging to be able to be permitted to get into a wheelchair, I am acutely aware that walking as an exercise was certainly not an option at that time. Any exercise would have been helpful - even if I was unable to do it myself. If I had been turned over enough times, I would not have developed those dreaded, painful bedsores, which were taped over with a sticky adhesive, which only disappeaed when I finally got out of the home in which I had been placed.
All of this being said, man was not designed for a sedentary existence. Whenever possible a daily brisk walk in the the sun in fresh air (preferably with accompanying salt water breezes) is ideal. Walking the dog twice a day works too and provides more quality time outdoors than all the artificial activities in a gym!
Since we're raising standards. let's go for the ultimate!
Claire,I really enjoyed your answer.Walking is personal goal, any exercise is personal goal.It is more person's attitude than time limit or distance limit.According to person's inspiration, inner desire & positive attitude.Life is not a goal, but a journey.Enjoy whatever you do & keep moving forward.Open your arms with walking,it provides you more energy & also open your heart.Love comes in the heart & brings more energy in the body.Energy inward & upward.Joy,peace & inner freedom is the key for any work or Exercise. Blessings. Veena
Since noone has replied, I note that experts proclaim how much is required.for everyone. I assert that the amount of required walking depends upon the individual.and his/her condition which varies from time to time. It is safe to say that a person needs sufficient walking time each day - without overtaxing the system! That is why we need a measure of progress in health and that remains the balance of the individual's blood chemistry - which testing needs to be updated periodically!
the amount of walking needed is what makes you feel good, refreshed, get your heart rate up and keep you toned, I don't get to walk as much as I would like, after work I have so much to do and am so tired, the only time is on Sundays my day off, I have a quaint little town to walk around and love to take photos so I put it all together and make a wonderful time of it, I get home feeling so alive, and to me it doesnt have to be clear and sunny, a light shower with a umbrella is wonderful. hope I can this week end.
