"Study to shew thyself approved unto God...rightly dividing the word of truth." 2 Tim. 2:15 KJV

We will be using the King James version of The Bible for purposes of reference so that we may all be on the same page! "And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city , and from the things which are written in this book." Revelation 22:19. - the same applies to any book of the Sacred Canon. The problem with "moderniizing or "changing" the word of God is that it takes away from the original meaning that the Bible writers were trying to convey. "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." ii peter 1:21. Please have a copy of the KJV on hand.
Of course, you may choose to use a parallel bible for clarification.

QUESTION NUMBER ONE:

How do we know that the Bible is the inspired word of God?

Paula, what an accomplishment if you have read the great book several times!

Joni Eareckson Tada is indeed an inspiring figure. And yet, Jesus, in his manhood, gave all honor and praise to His Father. Should we do less? The honor comes from reading His Word and following it!

"...For them that honor Me I will honor..." I Samuel 2:30KJV

In the physical, it will be splendid when man can think beyond disabilities to overcoming them! "I have come to give life and life more abundantly"

Upcoming "Towards the 144,000" will shed clarity on this issue! "Behold I set before you the way of life, and the way of death." Jer. 21:8KJV

Rosemary,

I am on my 22 reading of the Bible, as I read through it one more time each year.  The thing that has been most helpful to me is to either use the One Year Bible that has readings for each day by date.  I love using my Kindle for the One Year Bible because it will read out-loud to me.

This year I am using Olive Tree on my iPad which also has several reading plans and will be reading the New English Translation.  We also have a One Year Bible link on our church web-page, where a person can listen to Mac Mclean as he reads the daily reading.  Here's our church link: http://ch-umc.org

I will be reading along with you this year!

I am impressed. Actually shocked how many have never done this. Did this the first time in High School, several times since.

I received a daily schedule to read (Biblical passages) from Joni Eareckson Tada.  If anyone would like to read this with me on a daily basis her web-site is Joni and Friends.

That's wonderful news, Rosemary!

"Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity,

Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine."

I Timothy 4:12-13KJV
